“I have been here several times as I work in the Spectrum area and had such great service and such delicious food I decided that this would be a great place to have a going away party for a colleague. First of all, the owner George, is amazing. He took the time out to call me, to make sure of exactly what I wanted in terms of food, seating, drinks, everything. He made some great recommendations on what to order for large groups and my group was really happy with the result. We sat outside and even though the temp was quite cold, those heaters are fantastic and I was warm the entire time. We were waited on by Nadine and she was phenomenal, couldn’t have asked for better service, and as a 7 year serving veteran, I don’t give that compliment lightly. Prices were great, especially during happy hour and those appetizer sampler platters are huge and delicious, totally worth it!”

“Everyone in my family likes it: the décor is hip and modern (with a great modern rock soundtrack played at the perfect decibel level: you can hear the music but still talk), and the Greek food is tasty with a modern twist. The meat sampler platter is a great meal for 2 meat eaters. Good desserts, good service. Bring a restaurant.com certificate for exceptional value. A must try for dinner if you’re in the area.”

“My husband and I arrived in San Diego and were looking for a place to eat, we found Taverna Blu, when I saw Casual Greek Dining…I looked at him and said we have to try it. From the moment we walked in and were seated we were treated great. Greg our waiter was fantastic, as a test I said “Efgarhisto” he replied with “Parakalo” ahhh a true Greek. Having lived n Greece for 5 years it is hard to fin authentic Greek food. We had Retsina (typical Greek wine), only enjoyed with Greek food, calamari, dolmas, the threesome dip…and as a final dish we had the flaming cheese with honey….can you say delicious. If you have been to Greece, lived in Greece then this is a pace to go. Actually excellent food…Thank you Greg for making our visit awesome.”

At TavernaBlu, the food – which is mostly gluten free – is prepared fresh everyday and the marinated meats are cooked to perfection. “My favorite is the fresh salmon. I put it on everything, including the gourmet salads, tacos, delicious pastas, and of course the house specials,” stated Mary Katakalidis.
TavernaBlu’s Greek inspired cuisine, is often enjoyed by many of the guests with a glass of wine from the wine bar. The wine bar is social, interactive, fun, and is surrounded by unique signage throughout. A brick-floored, dog friendly outdoor patio with umbrellas, is available for those wishing to enjoy their summer day and take in some sun.
Opened since June of 2011, TavernaBlu continues to be a family-based, social restaurant offering some of the best vegetarian and gluten-free Greek food in Carmel Valley. Customers are encouraged to arrive hungry, as the plates are large and prepared fresh daily. Small portions are available as well, and range anywhere between $3 and $7.
